Mark De Leeuwerk takes over as General Manager
Park Hyatt Bangkok is entering the new year with a change at the top with Mark De Leeuwerk as General Manager. The move comes after seven years at Park Hyatt Kyoto as general manager. With his multi-faceted experience and his passion for top-notch guest services, Mark is passionate about his new role, “Ever since its opening, I have kept a close eye on Park Hyatt Bangkok and have always been impressed by what I have seen. The engagement, creativity and passion of the people come through in everything I have seen, and I am very excited to be joining the team to continue building on this past success.”
He is accompanied by his wife Linda, son Jamie and daughters Stella and Olivia. Mark is not new to Bangkok and was Director of Food & Beverage for several years at Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok. His connection to Bangkok is even more profound: his older two children were born in the Thai capital, “We are excited to reintroduce them to this beautiful place. Linda and I are also looking forward to returning to Bangkok to reconnect with the people and the city.”
Mark adds, “I have such fond memories of my time spent previously in Bangkok. The warm hospitality and kind spirit of the people stand out, as do the energy and excitement of the city. The last time I was in Bangkok, the city faced several challenging situations, and I was always very impressed by the resilience and flexibility of the people. Bangkok always bounces back incredibly quickly thanks to everyone’s positive and can-do attitude.”
Mark likes to connect with the outdoors on off days – playing a sport or travelling, “I spend most of my free time outside with my family. I am an active person, passionate about sports, music and the outdoors. The seven years we have lived in Japan have allowed us to explore the country beyond the usual cities and key attractions. We connected with the culture and the people in a deeper and meaningful way, which we are also very passionate about. We look forward to rediscovering Thailand again.”
